Our 2020 season starts on

There's often somthing extra going on, whether it's a visiting car club, school holiday bus services or a full blown main event, you'll find out about it on this page.

Main event days

(shown in yellow heading below) feature lots of classic bus rides and usually we have visiting vehicles and additional sales stands selling memorabilia, models and photographs. Of particular appeal to families is the delightful 'ride-on' miniature steam railway, constructed and operated by the Elmdon Model Engineering Society, demonstrating the finest examples of model engineering on three track gauges.

On main event days, we are open from 10.30am to 5.00pm (October 25th 11am-6pm)

Other days

(shown in green heading below) are days when we have a club visit or a school holiday opening. Some bus and train services may be running in addition to the cafe and shop being open, check the text for details. These days are not so busy as main event days, nevertheless excellent family days out

On these days, we are open from 11am to 4.30pm.

Don't forget, we're also open every weekend between March 30th and October 30th

EASTER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

SATURDAYS APRIL 4th, 11th and 18th, WEDNESDAYS APRIL 8th and 15th.
Normal admission prices with bus rides at 12.30, 1.30 and 3.30 plus the minature train running from 12 to 3pm.

MAIN EVENT - EASTER SUNDAY and MONDAY

APRIL 12th and 13th
Kick the event season off with bus rides, train rides and the Easter Bunny Hunt, a free prize competition for the kids. For enthusiasts, we have the Bristol buses spring gathering.

MAIN EVENT - MAY DAY BANK HOLIDAY FRIDAY AND SUNDAY

MAY 8th and 10th
Blow the winter away and get into the spring of things with more rides into the blossoming countryside on our classic buses. The miniature railway will be in full steam too for the kids.

SATURDAY May 9th - Normal admission prices with bus rides at 12.30, 1.30 and 3.30 plus the minature train running from 12 to 3pm.


SPRING HALF TERM SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

SATURDAYS MAY 23rd and May 30th, WEDNESDAY MAY 27th.
Normal admission prices with bus rides at 12.30, 1.30 and 3.30 plus the minature train running from 12 to 3pm.

MAIN EVENT - SPRING BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY AND MONDAY
INCLUDING MIDLAND RED DAY on the 25th

MAY 24th and 25th - Lots of buses running including on the 25th unique Midland Reds and a great new book to celebrate what was the largest bus operator outside London, now a distant memory.
Plus the annual visit from the Model Bus Federation with a fine array of models on display.

MAIN EVENT - FATHERS' DAY OUT

SUNDAY 21st JUNE - The day to let Dads of all ages loose among the big boys' toys! Bus and miniature train rides, of course


AUGUST SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

SATURDAYS JULY 25th, AUGUST 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th plus WEDNESDAYS JULY 22nd, 29th, AUGUST 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

THE BIG BANK HOLIDAY OPERATING DAYS - Our Summer Special with lots of dazzling classic buses and rides out.


AUSTIN J40 CLUB GATHERING

SUNDAY September 27th - We're pleased to welcome back the J40 Pedal Car Club for their annual gathering. Normal admission prices with bus rides at 1.30 and 2.30.

MAIN EVENT - FLEETLINE 60 & AUTUMN RUNNING DAY

SUNDAY OCTOBER 4th
60 years since Daimler introduced the revolutionary rear-engined Fleetline bus that became so familiar on Midland streets. As well as special runs to commemorate the event we'll still be running plenty of bus rides through the changing Autumn countryside.

MAIN EVENT - END OF SEASON TWILIGHT RUNNING DAY

SUNDAY OCTOBER 25th
The event season ends by turning the clock back with atmospheric twilight bus rides. We are open until 6.00pm.


AUTUMN HALF TERM SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

SATURDAY OCTOBER 24th and WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 28th
Normal admission prices with bus rides at 12.30, 1.30 and 3.30 plus the minature train running from 12 to 3pm.

 

Visiting buses are very welcome on any day but please note our insurance requires them to be entered in advance.
