There's often something extra going on, whether it's a visiting car club or a full blown main event, you'll find out about it on this page.

MAIN EVENT DAYS

(shown in yellow heading below) feature lots of classic bus rides and usually we have visiting vehicles and additional sales stands selling memorabilia, models and photographs. Of particular appeal to families is the delightful 'ride-on' miniature steam railway, constructed and operated by the Elmdon Model Engineering Society, demonstrating the finest examples of model engineering on three track gauges.

On main event days, we are open from 10.30am to 4.30pm (October 30th 10.30am-6pm)

OTHER SPECIAL DAYS

(shown in blue heading below) are days when we have a club visit or something else of extra interest. Bus and train services will be running as normal and the cafe and shop are open, check the text for details. These days are not so busy as main event days, nevertheless excellent family days out.

On these days, we are open from 10.30am to 4.00pm.


Please note that heritage buses were not designed to be disability accessible, wherever possible our staff will provide advice and assistance.

SUNDAY MARCH 31st & MONDAY APRIL 1st Easter Bank Holiday including Bristol Owners Spring Gathering

We kick off the year with the Bristol Owners spring gathering, now back in its usual spot. Plenty of Bristol vehicles on display and giving free rides. For the youngsters we have a traditional Easter Bunny Hunt with creme egg prizes. Miniature railway rides and visiting sales stands.

Austin/Morris/Wolseley's best, giant Minis with Tardis like interior space.


SUNDAY APRIL 21st National 'Drive It' Day

The day when all classic vehicle owners are encouraged to take their vehicles out on the road and are welcome to visit the Museum from 10.30am. Several car clubs are expected to drop in. Anybody with a classic vehicle is invited to join in - free entry for driver and car, passengers pay normal entry fee.

Train Ride

SATURDAY MAY 11th The Allegro National Rally, 20 - 30 cars

Love it or hate it, the Allegro was a fine family car. 642,350 were sold in its 10 years of productione so how could it be that bad? Includes an awards ceremony for Series 1, 2, 3, Estate, Vanden Plas and visiting classics. If you have one and are not a member you will be welcome.


SUNDAY MAY 12th Cavalier and Chevette Club PLUS Morris/Austin LCV Register rally

Cavalier and Chevette owners who are not club members are welcome to join the event
With an added selection of light commercial vehicles from Morris and Austin visiting so if you have a nice Morris or even Austin Minor van (yes they used both brand names), come along


SATURDAY and SUNDAY MAY 18th/19th Bedford OB Celebration

The iconic Miss Marple countryside coach celebrates the 85th anniversary of its launch in 1939. We're expecting a bumper number of visiting OBs on parade, with rides around the lanes.

SUNDAY and MONDAY MAY 26th/27th Spring Bank Holiday

As well as our normal main event features, we also pay tribute to the humble no 50 Bus Route, celebrating 75 years since it first ran in 1949. Special rides on parts of the route featuring historic buses that ran on the service.

Monday 27th Model Bus displays Members of the Model Bus Federation will be putting on a superb display of their models and dioramas.


SATURDAY and SUNDAY JUNE 15th/16th London Comes to Wythall

London Buses

This is a chance to experience a ride on the Capital's iconic vehicles on our museum services 'north of Watford', includes a number of visiting London buses and displays of memorabilia.

SUNDAY JUNE 23rd Central England Vauxhall Pre 1980 Rally

owners of any General Motors product pre 1980 are welcome including vehicles from Vauxhall, Bedford and Opel.


SATURDAY JULY 6th Wythall BUSFEST at Gaydon

Gaydon

Come and see us at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire where we are running the 3rd annual BUSFEST, one of the UK's biggest bus shows. Special prices at Gaydon but our museum remains open at Wythall too, for the normal Saturday bus and train rides.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 6th Autumn Running Day & Midland Red 120

Today we celebrate 120 years since the mighty Midland Red, as the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company, was founded in 1904. This iconic bus operator ruled the Midlands and even designed and built its own buses until it was absorbed into the National Bus Company. We'll be running many of our red buses and we anticipate lots of visiting Reds too.

SATURDAY and SUNDAY OCTOBER 12th/13th Stationary Engines & Miscellanea
NORMAL ADMISSION PRICES

We welcome members from Wychavon Oil Engine and Preservation Society and their friends, with a display of stationary engines and dioramas, plus on Sunday 13th we host the Austin J40 Pedal Car Club Annual races and prize giving. Vintage Bus rides and miniature train too on this fun weekend.

Twilight Day

Our traditional end of season rally. Your last chance to ride on our buses into the twilight now that the clocks have gone back. The event season ends with atmospheric twilight bus rides. We are open until 6.00pm, last bus rides at 5.30pm.
